I was looking forward to switching to this type of razor. I could no longer find the generic refills for my modern razor and was shocked at the prices they were now asking. I originally learned to shave my legs using a single blade razor such as this, although I have to admit that was a LONG time ago.
I tried it and it didn't work for me. Admittedly, I don't think it's this particular razor (although I can't be sure), but there's not much feedback for us ladies so I wanted to contribute.
Looking at the razor after I inserted the blade, I couldn't see how it could possibly give a close shave. The edge of the blade seems too far shielded by the heavy metal edge of the razor itself. But I gave it the old college try. Used light touch, as so many suggest...no effect on hair. Pressed harder, some slight effect. Lots of hairs remaining. Tried different angles, no improvement. Gave up and finished that leg with my multiblade shaver.
I went back to shave my other leg, giving the Parker razor another try. I changed the blade (I had 2 varieties). Made no difference. If the technique requires me making numerous passes over the same area, forget it. Twice I can handle. Two swipes with my modern razor gives me BBS, two swipes with this thing hardly makes a dent. Since I own this thing and numerous blades, I would appreciate any advice left as a comment.
I had done a lot of research before this purchase, so I was well aware that the angle you hold the razor is critical and that not much pressure is required. After I received a comment on my review I tried the Parker a third time. This time I was very systematic, trying every angle from 5 to 85 degrees and trying varying pressure at each angle. I also experimented with shaving with the hairs or against the growth. Fuggedaboutit. I am off to eBay to stock up on Sensor Excel blades.

This is a good razor. Great looking, wonderful weight and balance to it. The only drawback for me is its standard 3" handle. A bit short for me. I prefer the long handled razors, with 4" handle. Other than that, it's a great shaving instrument.

Very handsome razor. The picture does not do the razor justice. The resulting Shave is fabulous - this razor has the same head as the Parker 91 and 89. I like the long handle and sure grip. A quality Item, reasonable price, free shipping. What else could I want? The blades are very good too!
