I got this as a gift for my mother-- an upgrade from her old Emjoi one-- and when it arrived, I tested it. I find it not only inefficient (on both speeds, with both heads) but extremely painful. And I am accustomed to epilation, so it should not hurt nearly as much. I assure you, I used it properly, but still I couldn't use it without constantly pinching my skin, getting quite noticable and irritating razor burn, and still not being smooth as I can get on the $17 Emjoi one I already own!
I do not at all recommend this epilator.
Pass on this one.

I've used epilators before. And I must say this one really lives up to my standards. It's quick and effective. FOr beginners it may be painful but nothing you can't get used to. I DEFINITELY recommend this product!

I bought this epilator after reading the reviews. Never had one before. I was used to wax back when I was still living in Brazil. Now that I've moved up here, I live in the country, far from salons that do that. When I got it I decided to give it a try right away. Put on the SmartStart head and went to town. As it wasn't hurting me as much as I thought it would I switched to the advanced kind of head, the one that comes attatched to the epilator when you get it. Shaved my legs, then did my underarms (this is a delicate area and it's a bit more painful) and after all that... I did my bikini line! All these areas came out perfect and smooth as a baby's but. The SmartLight feature is great and makes the task a lot easier all the time. It's easy to clean and the noise didn't bother me at all. Should have bought this a long time ago!
